Page Attribute Ranking Influences: These page attribute ranking influences pertain to how Google interprets data about a web page, other than through keywords. | Page Attribute Ranking Factors | Score | Internal Link Popularity | 4.0 | | The number and importance of internal links to the web page - very useful for trusted websites and websites that accommodate long tail search. Also assists with indexing of pages that might otherwise not receive enough emphasis. | External Link Relevance | 3.5 | | Inserting external links on the page to high quality relevant sites - this is particularly important for new web sites and relates to the concept of authority websites. Some times referred to as anchor text tunneling. | Page Age | 3.4 | | The actual age of the page, time since the page was created - older pages are seen as more authoritative, stable, no broke links, etc, while new pages will tend to be favoured for freshness of content. | Indexable Text | 3.2 | | The actual amount of spider readable text content on your web page - although this seems to be loosing importance, it is still useful in a competitive arena. Longer, more authoritative web pages rank better. | Quality of Content | 3.0 | | The validity and value of your web pages content, as seen algorithmically by the search engines - in my opinion, content is king! Good content is exactly what the search engines are looking for and it will attract high quality links as well. | Organization of Page Flow | 2.8 | | The construction of the page text flow - although clear page structure is important, each page should be able to stand on its own. Link similar topics together and don't link dissimilar pages. | Page Update Frequency | 2.4 | | How regularly the web page is being updated - I think site updates are more important, but if you had tow pages, one updated regularly and the other static for a long time, the updated page will rank higher. | Number of Trailing Slashes in URL | 1.9 | | The actual number of slashes "/" in the URL after the .com - although I don't really think it affects ranking, I believe that over 4 decreases the spiderability of your web pages. | Spelling & Grammar | 1.8 | | Ensuring that your spelling and grammar is correct - although i don't believe that this effects your rankings, poor spelling and or grammar may have a negative impact on your visitors. | W3C Standards Validation | 1.4 | | HTML validation off the web page by W3C standards - this is great for correctness but has little, if any role to play in your web pages ranking. |
